1.4362 (UNS S32304 – F68 – 2304)

By using 1.4362 (UNS S32304 – F68 – 2304) you get a stainless lean duplex steel that has high resistance to various types of corrosion. It has good weldability and can be welded by several methods. The steel is widely used e.g. for shafts, pump- and valve parts and reinforcement.

The steel grade 1.4362 ( also called UNS S32304, F68 och 2304) is a  ferritic-austenitic duplex stainless steel with a lower Molybdenum content  (lean duplex) whose duplex structure containing approximately equal amounts of ferrite och austenite, is able to offer a sufficient resistance to pitting and uniform corrosion, a very good stress corrosion cracking resistance, together with high mechanical properties and toughness.

Some typical application areas for 1.4362 are:

  • Shafts
  • Pump- and Valveparts
  • Pressure vessels
  • Desalination plants
  • Tanks
  • Bolt and Nuts
  • Fittings
  • Stirrers
  • Reinforcing bars

Good weldability
It has good weldability and can be welded by using most of the welding methods used for austenitic stainless steels. Over-alloyed fillers with more Ni or Ni-Mo shall be used by welding.  The steel can be both cold and hot formed. It is more difficult to machine than common austenitic steel.

Certifikat
The steelworks has certificates as an approved material supplier of this steel grade from DNV-GL and Lloyds. 1.4362 is also an approved reinforcement steel grade by Cares and Kontrollrådet.

We offer steel grade 1.4362 in the following profiles

Steel grade 1.4362 is available as reinforcement bars in dimensions 6 – 32 mm.
